Going to a special event? A bit of forward planning makes for a hassle-free experience.
The Queenstown Lakes District hosts many special events. From the glitz and glamour of the Queenstown Winter Festival to the community focused fun and frivolity of Wanakafest, there are many opportunities to get out and have fun with your friends, family and neighbours.
Don’t let your fun day out be spoiled by transport or parking hassles. A little planning will see you get there and back with the minimum of fuss.
Take the bus
Parking very quickly becomes scarce when big events are on so avoid having to find and pay for a car park by taking the bus. For some special events, like New Year’s Eve, extra bus services are provided and concert promoters often organise special transport too, so make sure you check out those options.
Got room in your car? Why not ask the neighbours if they want a lift. You’ll get to know them better and there’s one less car to park.
Make the journey part of the event by walking. It’s a great opportunity for some family time on the trot and everyone will enjoy looking at the scenery on the way. There are other options too like walking to the event and taking the bus home or taking advantage of the free parking further away from the event and walking from there.
